What is the function of galvanizing and what are the galvanizing processes?
Zinc plating refers to a surface treatment technology that coats a layer of zinc on the surface of metals, alloys or other materials for aesthetics and rust prevention. The main method used is hot-dip galvanizing.
The function of galvanizing is to prevent the corrosion of steel, which is easily corroded in the natural atmosphere. While zinc is not easy to change in dry air, a dense zinc carbonate protective film will be formed on the surface in a humid environment, which can effectively protect steel.
There are generally three types of galvanizing processes and methods: mechanical galvanizing, hot-dip galvanizing and cold galvanizing.
1. Mechanical galvanizing. The mechanical galvanizing process is a relatively traditional galvanizing process. The zinc powder is attached to the plated parts through mechanical collision and chemical agent adsorption to form a coating.
2. Hot-dip galvanizing, also known as hot-dip galvanizing, first pickle the plated parts to remove the oxide layer on the surface of the plated parts to provide conditions for the firm adhesion of the coating, cleaning with ammonium chloride or zinc chloride fluxes, and further Remove impurities on the surface of the plated part, and then put it into the zinc bath of the hot-dip galvanizing tank to make the zinc bath evenly and densely adhere to the plated part to form a coating.
3.Cold galvanizing is also called electro-galvanizing. After removing the surface oil and dust, pickling and cleaning, the plating parts are put into the zinc salt solution. At the same time, the zinc plate is placed on the opposite side of the plating parts, and then the plating parts are connected to The negative electrode of the electrolysis device, the zinc plate is connected to the positive electrode of the electrolysis device, the power is turned on, and the zinc layer is attached to the plated part through the electrolysis reaction.
With the continuous maturity of the new technology, the mechanical plating method has been eliminated. The commonly used processes are hot-dip galvanizing and cold-dip galvanizing.
